Marathi
- The Language of the Deccan. The main Marathi speaking areas are, Maharashtra, Parts of Madhya Pradesh, Parts of Andhra & Karnataka. It is also spoken & understood in the southern part of Gujrat. Outside India, Marathi speaking population is found in Mauritius, USA, UAE, South Africa, Singapore, Germany, UK, Australia & New Zealand. The dialect situation throughout the greater Marathi speaking area is complex. Dialects bordering other major language areas share many features with those languages. Konkani, Goanese, Deccan, Varhadi, Nagpuri, Ikrani, Gowlan are various dialects of Marathi. Marathi makes use of the Devanagri Script.
