Apanamail.com is world's first Multi-Font, Multi-Format, Multi-Lingual e-mail system designed to offer flexibility of sending e-mails in your own language, without having to download a particular software or font. The system is designed to cater to all the available Indian Language fonts/formats/keyboards. 

Typing / composing messages in Indian Languages was always a difficult task, owing to the non-standardisation of fonts, keyboard mappings etc. There are many application software titles available for typing contents in Indian Languages under MS Windows. In each of them, the keyboard mapping differs, as also the encoding of the fonts. At present, in Devanagari alone, there are a number of keyboards in use, such as Remington Typewriter, Godrej Typewriter, C-DAC phonetic, Akruti Phonetic, Akruti English Phonetic, C-DAC English Phonetic, Shree Lipi etc. The key positions for characters differs in all of them. This leads to problemitic situation, where someone used to operate a particular keyboard is made to use some other keyboard which he is not familier with. Often this happens in Government organisations, where different software packages are used in different offices or locations.

Apanamail.com is a system primarily designed to cater to this section of society, which needs a flexibility of using any available font or keyboard layout, without the need of downloading a particular font or keyboard driver engine. It is for this reason, we have considered that the users of this system are familier with atleast one keyboard layout from the available so many. However, we do not want to restrict the system only to such users. For this, we have included links to some Freeware / Shareware / Downloadable software titles, which can be used by first time users. 

For making use of this system, here are a few guidelines. 

Registration :
It is necessary to register with apanamail.com for sending e-mails from the system. This will facilitate the user to receive updates and more information about the features that we plan to add to the system. 

The registration is of two types - 

Web Mail User : This user will be able to send e-mails from apanamail.com, using all the features of the site. He will not get any e-mail address to receive the mails in this case. The senders address shall however be any of the mail address he may be having, e.g. hotmail, yahoo, vsnl etc. The replies to the mails will be directly sent to the registered mail address given at the time of registration. 

POP Mail User : This is a fully functional POP mail account. It offers all the features of any POP mail account available on the web. You get to use all the features of apanamail, with this account, PLUS the facility to receive your e-mails & replies on this POP mail account. We provide 2 MB space to store your mails. The POP mail account will be created for you after scrutiny of the information given in the registration form. The POP mail account will normally be activated in a period of 24 to 48 Hours after receiving the request. You will have to provide a stand-by e-mail address to which the e-mail notification about the activation of the POP mail account will be sent. If you do not have a stand-by e-mail address, you may inform us accordingly, so that we can work out a way to communicate this to you. 

Sending e-mails from apanamail :

After registering yourself with apanamail.com, you can immediately start sending mails from this system. 

You will first have to select the language you wish to send the e-mail in. After selecting the language, you will see a log-in screen, where you will type your username & password. You will have to mention whether you are a POP mail user or a Web mail user. 

We have provided a number of fonts and keyboards which can be used to send your e-mails. If you are used to any of them, you can directly select the same. However, if you have not used any of the Indian Langauges software in the past & do not know which to use or how to type in Indian Languages, we have provided a few Shareware/Freeware software & fonts, which can be used by you. You can download these from the respective links provided on the site. After downloading the software, you can select the related font & go to the next screen. 

Apanamail.com is a system facilitating the use of any available software on user's computer. Thus these is no confined keyboard, user guide, help system etc., which will rule universally. The users are expected to use the Help systems or manuals available with their software. Thus Akruti Users can refer to Akruti Manual and user guide, while C-DAC iLEAP users can refer to the user guide in iLeap. Most of the Indian Language software titles need you to either press Scroll Lock or Caps Lock Key to type in the language. Refer the respective manual of the software. 

We have compiled this general help file and FAQ to help you getting started. All the software titles covered here do have their own keyboard layouts, online help systems etc. 

Webmail users will be taken directly to the message composing screen. On the Message composing page, you can type the e-mail address of the person you wish to send the mail to. You can also type the subject of the mail. Now, using the normal way in which you would type using your familier software, you can type in the Text box. After finishing the typing, click on Send button. Your mail will now be sent. 

POP mail users will see their message inbox after login. They have a choice to go to Compose, view their Inbox, or Logout from the system.

• What is Apanamail.com ?

Apanamail.com is a Multi-format Multi-font Multi-lingual Email sytem developed for sending and receiving mails in 13 Indian languages. The uniqueness of this system is that the user is free of choosing his desired font in which he wants to send a mail. Since there is no standardisation of Keybord layouts in Indian Language fonts, all the various indian language fonts available have different Key board layout thus confusing the user when ever he switches over to some other font. Thats why we have developed this system to give the user his right to choose the font he is conversant with
 
• What is POPmail user ?

POPmail account is the one where you can send as well as recieve mails. You get an email address yourname@apanamail.com.
 
• What is Webmail user ?

Webmail user is the one where you have the privelege to register using your existing email account and sending mails from the same, thus its not necessary for you create a new email account and distribute the same to everyone.
 
• How can i know which font is installed in my system ?

If you have ever used any Indian languae font then you must be known with the fontface name of the font, If you are not confirmed, then go to your C:\Windows\Fonts directory and check the existence of the font.
 
• How do i install a font on my system ?

First of all, please understand that many fonts like that of Akruti, Ileap, etc require typing engine to type in that particular font. But fonts like that of BharatBhasha donot require any typing engine.
Thus if you have downloaded any fonts of family Akruti or Ileap, then they are of no use unless you download the software for typing.
If you have downloaded BharatBhasha fonts like Shivaji05.ttf or Shyamal01.ttf, just copy them to your
C:\Windows\Fonts directory. Its very simple and easy.
 
• What is meant by Typing Engine ?

Softwares like Akruti or Ileap provide a typing engine for typing in their given fonts. Unless of the typing engine provided its impossible to type in given fonts.
for eg : If you select LscapeRegDevPooja font for sending mails, you have to keep the typing engine of Akruti Freedom software ON and as per the software requirements keep the SCROLL LOCK ON for typing in Marathi or Hindi.
 
• I have downloaded the font, but failed to type in that language. Why ?

Some fonts require typing engine to be installed like for Akruti or Ileap fonts. If you have downloaded and installed such type of fonts then u require to also download the respective software and read the instructions given in that software to type in desired font.
 
• The font I use, is not listed in your system ?

Since there are many fonts which are renamed and circulated by many organisations, it is hard to keep the list of such renamed fonts, that is why kept a Feedback form where we request you to send us the font by attachment so that we can list it in our system
 
• I have registered, but failed to login into my account ?

If you have registered as a POPmail user, then while logging in click on the POPmail user option.
Similarty if you have registered as a Webmail user, then while loggig in click on the Webmail user option.
Either you have not clicked on the right option or you have typed in the wrong login / password.
 
• How can I Reply to a mail recieved to me ?

If you are a POPmail user, the mails recieved to you can be replied in either English or the desired font selected by you. When ever you click on the received mails to read, you can see 2 option (Reply in English and Reply in Selected font)
Thus giving you the option of replying to English mails and Indian language mails 
 
• What is Online Mail Reader ?

Whenever a mail is sent from Apanamail.com to any other Email system like Hotmail or Yahoo, etc a link is sent to the person saying :
If you cannot view this message click on Online Mail Reader to read the message without need of the font.
Many of the Email systems do not support Dynamic fonts thus fail to display the messages sent in Indian Language sent in particular font not installed on the recievers machine.
Thus on clicking on our Online Mail Reader the receiver can read the message sent to him/her. 
 
• Is it necessary that the reciepient of the mail has the font available on his system?

No, there is no necessity for the reciepient to have the font installed on his system through which you have sent the mail. Our system works on dynamic font technology. 
 
• What are dynamic fonts ?

Whenver a person views a web page contents, he can see the text, only if the fonts in which the text is coded are installed on his sytem.
For eg : if a Hindi web page is designed in LscapeRegDevPooja font and a person in US or CANADA wants to see the page he requires the LscapeRegDevPooja font to be installed on his computer.
But now, Dynamic font is the latest technology for displaying the fonts without need of the font to be installed on the computer from where the page is viewed. Now the persone from US or CANADA can easily view the web page designed in LscapeRegDevPooja without need of the font to be installed on his computer.
 
• I cannot view the mails sent to me in Indian Language font ?

We use the Dynamice font technology where there is no need to download the font to view the messages, but this technology is supported only by the latest browsers that is Internet Explorer 4.0 and above & Netscape 4.0 and above
Also if you are using Internet Explorer you require to support Activex.
 
• Which software titles are supported by apanamail.com ?

At this moment, apanamail.com supports Akruti, Ileap, Bharatbhasha softwares. We request the users to let us know if they are using some other softwares which are not included in the list.
